Anna Batova is a balalaika player, winner of national and international competitions, and performer of both academic and contemporary repertoire. Her programs combine classical arrangements, works for balalaika and orchestra, and ensemble projects.
Born in Moscow in 2007, she began playing the balalaika at the age of 8. Studied at P. Yu. Jurgenson Music School No. 26 (2015–2016), then at the V.F. Odoevsky Music School (2016–2023). She continues her professional development at the A.G. Schnittke Moscow State Institute of Music (2023–present) in the class of Yu.Yu. Strzhelinsky, Honored Worker of Culture of Moscow.
She has won the Grand Prix at folk instrument competitions: "Golden Ear," "MiR," "Heritage of Russia," and "Russian Palette," and has received grants from the Mayor of Moscow. She is a recipient of scholarships from the Spivakov Foundation and the New Names Foundation. She has also received awards in composition, including the "Balalaika – the Soul of Russia" International Competition, GRAND MUSIC ART, and the A.G. Schnittke Competition.
She has performed as a soloist with the Igor Lerman Chamber Orchestra (directed by I. M. Lerman, Naberezhnye Chelny), the VGTRK Orchestra (directed by A. V. Shlyachkov, Moscow), the Symphony Orchestra of the F. Chopin Moscow State Musical Institute (directed by V. G. Ryzhaev, Moscow), the L. G. Zykina State Academic Symphony Orchestra "Russia" (directed by D. S. Dmitrienko, Moscow), the Schnittke Youth Symphony Orchestra of the A. G. Schnittke Moscow State Institute of Music (directed by I. Yu. Gromov, Moscow), the "Moscow" Orchestra of the A. G. Schnittke Moscow State Institute of Music (directed by N. M. Aldanov, Moscow)
She has participated in master classes with Andrei Aleksandrovich Gorbachev, Valery Evgenievich Zazhigin, Igor Illarionovich Senin, Vera Alekseevna Makarova, Konstantin Olegovich Zaharato, Alexei Yuryevich Vrodlivets, Evgeny Robertovich Shabalin, Amvrosy Georgievich Tarasov, Dmitry Vladimirovich Naumov. A composition major, she also participated in a master class with Evgeny Vyacheslavovich Zhelinsky.
In her work, Anna promotes a respectful attitude toward cultural values, the memory and respect for the history of her people, and the development of academic performance on folk instruments.
